Tenets of Chiropractic Health Care
Chiropractic supports the notion that health and well being manifest how well the Structural, Nutritional and Emotional components of life are integrated and harmonized. Chiropractors are extensively trained to investigate and identify dysfunction(s) in these three areas of health and provide a a particular plan of care that facilitates self healing, resolution of issues at source and proper restoration to a fully functioning state.
Generally, chiropractic care flows from relief of pain and discomfort to restoration of normal function to maintenance and wellness care.
Phase 1: Relief Care
If you are in pain when you come into our Ardmore chiropractic office, our first objective is to help you reduce pain and start feeling better as soon as possible. Depending on the severity of the underlying condition which is causing your pain, it is typical for a patient in our office to need chiropractic care and/or adjustments 1-2 times per week for 3-6 weeks until you are ready to enter Restorative care.
Phase 2: Corrective/Restorative Care
Corrective care in chiropractic is similar to corrective care provided by orthodontists, except it is done for the spine. During the corrective phase of chiropractic care, muscles and other tissues are allowed to heal more completely, which helps prevent further injury or pain followed by supporting proper alignment and integrity of the spine through specific muscle strengthening . The goal of corrective or restorative chiropractic care is to help bring your body back as close to 100% functioning as possible. It is typical to need chiropractic care or adjustments about 1-2 times per month for 2-3 months and then once a month for up to two years, depending on your overall health and the severity of your problem.
Phase 3: Wellness Care
Once your body has fully healed and you are no longer experiencing symptoms and/or recurrence of issues, it is important to come in for periodic chiropractic adjustments to avoid further problems in the future. Usually, this phase of chiropractic care only requires a visit once a month to once every three months , based on your lifestyle and goals.
